Eehhh...

Okay, I'm no expert but even I'm hesitant to suspend my disbelief. Pretty sure this isn't a legit Alpina but as I've only seen a few in my life and I'm no Bimmer guy, it's hard to say.

Even if it is an Alpina though, they're not such high dollar machines that it'd be impossible find a write-off or dead one, right?

Help!

Could just have the emblems changed. If this were a real Alpina I would expect it to be badged as such (B10 V8 in this case). It also doesn't have the traditional Alpina wheels (though that's obviously easy to change), graphics (maybe optional), spoiler or bumper pieces.

That's not an alpina either, no one gets rid of the Alpina wheels, badges on the back, and the paint on the sides.

An Alpina wouldn't have a 540i badge, it'd have "ALPINA B10 V8" badges and likely the pinstripes common to most Alpinas.

It's more likely a 540i with some Alpina bits added on, which isn't too strange. No Alpina wheels, either. Besides, he doesn't claim it to be an Alpina.

Sadly, my Alpina knowledge is pretty inadequate. Blame my Canadian upbringing, but we don't see very many. They appear at shows, C&C events and meets but that's about it and they tend to be few and far between.

Here's my only SR20.

yeah some Alpina bits tossed on there, but all the wrong ones. Think it is a fakie. Still a 540 though, have to open the hood to find out if they got the best bit installed in there

It's just fantasy.

Pretty certain it's just a regular 540i with three Alpina badges stuck on in place of the BMW ones. It's conceivable that someone might have an Alpina with 5xxi badging on for discretion, but they probably wouldn't use 540i badging, and anyway definitely wouldn't then go with the Alpina badges.

Plus, the seller doesn't even say it's an Alpina.
